The school has an excellent record of academic achievement throughout all age groups and was the first independent school in the UK to offer the IB Career-related Programme alongside the IB Diploma Programme and our A Level Plus Programme, through which pupils study for A Levels but also take advantage of the IB courses on offer and add them as enrichment options. We also offer a one year GCSE and Pre-Sixth Form course providing excellent preparation for entry into the Sixth Form.
Pupils leave to go on to study at Oxbridge, medical schools, other Russell Group Universities and Art, Music and Drama colleges. Pupils succeed academically and are well-mannered, characterful, happy and independent; a result of Ryde School's dynamic yet welcoming environment.
Our pupils benefit from an extensive range of excellent resources and extra-curricular activities. Sailing is on the curriculum in both the Junior and Senior Schools and has a strong focus throughout the School. In addition to the extensive academic, creative arts and sporting programmes, the location of our school enables us to offer a full extra-curricular programme including fencing, riding and water sports.
Situated in a beautiful, safe and idyllic island setting just off the South Coast of England, Ryde School with Upper Chine (known locally as Ryde School) is a thriving, prosperous independent day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 2.5 to 18, providing exceptional educational opportunities in a nurturing environment - helping them to be resourceful and resilient in the face of challenge and change.
Just ten minutes by Hovercraft from the mainland, the School and the boarding houses benefit from being near high-speed sea, rail and air links to regional, European and international destinations and the School is minutes from Cowes, the home of international sailing.
Constantly investing in the future of our pupils, we have recently updated the science labs and libraries, the Sixth Form Centre and added a new Sixth Form boarding house offering flexi, weekly and full boarding options, with a further new build boarding house opening in Spring 2021, helping pupils to learn to adapt to more independent living and study. The aims of Ryde School as embedded in the School motto, 'Ut Prosim', have always been focused on service to others. Our pupils are encouraged towards self-knowledge, academic excellence and leadership in order to contribute positively in their careers and the wider world.
