In brief

Founded in 1896, Scarborough College is a leading independent school in the Northeast, nestled between the stunning North Sea coast and the North Yorkshire Moors. The College offers a forward-facing and holistic education to boys and girls aged three to 18 years old.

At Scarborough College, we believe that all pupils have hidden talents and through our challenging curriculum, we inspire children to find their love of learning and develop a 'can do' attitude that typefies Scardeburgians old and new, the world over.

Academic and Co-curricular

True to our founding principles of offering an outstanding education; we offer GCSEs, an exceptional range of co-curricular activities and an IB-only Sixth Form. Our nationally recognised Yorkshire Grit programme is a vital part of our curriculum, providing challenges beyond the classroom and an opportunity for pupils to become resilient, collaborative and compassionate individuals.

Sports play a central role in College life and children from as early as Year 3 are engaged in daily sports and games lessons. With hockey and rugby as representative sports, the College has two Centres of Excellence - cricket and golf - for boys and girls who are committed to train and perform at a higher level.

The SC Visual Arts department has been ranked among the top performing in the country and through our cooperation with the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, we have nearly a quarter of our pupils taking LAMDA examinations each year.

Boarding

Following recent investments, Scarborough College's boarding facilities rank among the very best in the country. In addition to a Junior Girls and a Junior Boys House, the College boasts a flagship co-ed Sixth Form house. While the boarding houses are comfortable and modern, including underfloor heating and bespoke modern furniture, the atmosphere within them is homely, caring and happy. Boarding the SC way is a blend of modern comforts, the foundation of lifelong friendships and warmth.
