St. John's School At A Glance

Established over 35 years ago, St. John's School (SJS) is located in the heart of beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. It is a non-denominational, co-educational, IB World School. Our graduates go on to attend Universities across the globe in North America, Europe and Asia.

SJS is known first and foremost as a tight-knit community of teachers, students, staff and parents who work together to ensure everyone is healthy, safe and thriving. An SJS education is shaped by small class sizes, individual attention and a culture of collaboration.

Our Students

SJS students are challenged and encouraged by the rigour of the IB curriculum. Every member of the SJS community explores their talents, skills and interests so they can make a difference in the world in their own way.

Outside academics, SJS aims to provide its students with a real-world grounding. Just like real-life SJS is co-educational. In the classroom, the gym, theatre and art studio, SJS boys and girls use their individual and combined strengths to work and play together. Plus, being based in the heart of Vancouver means students are never far away from the city's cultural and civic delights.

Above all, SJS students are interesting. They are artists, public speakers, chess players, basketball stars, designers and so much more. Whatever their passion, they can explore it at St. John's School.

Our Mission & Values

St. John's aims to develop confident, lifelong learners who make a difference in their communities. Each student embraces and celebrates their unique abilities.

To achieve this, SJS students work hard to cultivate five key values.

  • Respect: SJS is a warm, caring and inclusive community. A culture of kindness, empathy and service to others is encouraged.
  • Curiosity: SJS promotes critical thinking and stringent inquiry into the nature of things.
  • Integrity: Honesty is rewarded. SJS students strive to do the right thing.
  • Courage: Students embrace new ideas that challenge them to improve themselves and the communities they are a part of.
  • Wellness: SJS cares deeply about personal and environmental health. Students are encouraged to be mindful of their emotions and to nurture personal relationships.
