The International School of Penang (Uplands) is a non-profit, co-educational Reception to Primary and Secondary School, open to children aged 4 to 18 years old. It is one of the leading international schools in Malaysia, offering the IB PYP, IB Diploma and IGCSE qualifications.
Since being established in 1955 at the top of Penang Hill we are now established in a modern campus in Batu Feringgi. During our rich history, Uplands has strived to embody a caring community; a school where both international and Malaysian students are happy to learn in with our motto of Respect for Self. Students receive a wealth of quality education from an international teaching faculty as well as a range of sporting and extracurricular activities cultivating our values of respect, integrity, inquiry, diversity, collaboration, resilience and balance. Year upon year Uplands students have attained academic results that are consistently higher than global averages, with some achieving perfect scores in the IB Diploma pre-university course and receiving prestigious university scholarships.
Uplands is an IB World School, who are also recognised by the Malaysian Ministry of Education and permitted to admit both foreign and local students. Continuing its long history of excellence in education, Uplands received accreditation by The Council of International Schools (CIS), a global organisation committed to ensuring high-quality international education. Uplands is also accredited by The International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO), The East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS) and a member of:

The School is approved to offer external examinations by The International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO), Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and Edexcel International Examinations. Languages offered at the school are English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, Spanish, French and German. School facilities include air-conditioned and well-resourced classrooms, climbing wall, 25 metre swimming pool, sports field, library, refectory, playground, basketball court, badminton court, IT resource centre, science laboratories, multi-purpose hall, audio/visual room, art rooms, music rooms, drama rooms, design technology workshops and world class boarding facilities. The campus is fully networked with wired and wireless access.
