Nestled in the heart of Sri Lanka, The Overseas School of Colombo (OSC) is a place where learning is deeply personal, community is cherished, and every child is known, valued, and supported. Founded in 1957, OSC is the country's oldest internationally accredited school and remains Sri Lanka's only IB World School, offering the full IB continuum from the Primary Years Programme to the Diploma Programme. For nearly seven decades, families from around the world have trusted OSC as a home for their children's growth, curiosity, and wellbeing.
At OSC, diversity is more than a feature of our community; it is a source of strength. With students and faculty representing more than 40 nationalities, the campus hums with perspectives, languages, and lived experiences that enrich learning and foster genuine intercultural understanding. This spirit of unity in diversity helps young people become open-minded, empathetic individuals who can navigate and contribute to an increasingly interconnected world.
Learning at OSC is intentionally personalised. With a student-teacher ratio of 5:1, each child receives the time, attention, and encouragement they need to thrive. Our dedicated faculty – drawn from across the globe – bring expertise, compassion, and a love of teaching to every classroom. They guide students to think critically, act ethically, and approach challenges with creativity and confidence. Academic rigour is balanced with a holistic commitment to the arts, athletics, outdoor education, and service, ensuring that students grow as whole individuals.
A strong safeguarding culture sits at the centre of school life. With specialised pastoral teams, trained safeguarding leads, and a clear framework for wellbeing, OSC ensures that every student feels safe, respected, and supported.
Our purpose-built green campus provides an inspiring environment for discovery. Modern science and design laboratories, dedicated art and performing arts spaces, two libraries, a 25-metre swimming pool, a versatile gymnasium, and expansive outdoor fields offer students opportunities to explore interests beyond the classroom. As a global leader in sustainability – recognised with the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award and the MSA Programme of Distinction in Sustainability – OSC integrates environmental stewardship into daily learning and action.
More than anything, OSC is a community. Families who join us often speak of the warmth, openness, and sense of belonging they feel from the moment they arrive. Students leave OSC not only well prepared for the world's best universities but grounded, compassionate, and ready to make a meaningful difference.
