The Western International School of Shanghai (WISS) has been educating and inspiring young people from around the world since 2006. WISS is the first and only full continuum IB World School in mainland China authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, Diploma Programme, and the Career-related Programme. Continually striving for high standards of professional performance in international education WISS holds WASC Accreditation and was recently granted membership in the Council of International Schools (CIS), which is the first step towards obtaining CIS Accreditation.
Located on the western side of Shanghai, close to many popular housing compounds in the expatriate community, WISS has one of the largest international school campuses in Shanghai. The modern campus features open plan, bright classrooms equipped with ceiling air purification units, a well-resourced library, state of the art science and technology labs, spacious art studios, sleek film and music studios, and theatre spaces including a black box classroom and the innovative Orsini Theatre. Sports facilities include an impressive Astroturf football fields, basketball courts, a large gymnasium equipped with a rock-climbing wall, and two swimming pools.
Their robust after school activity program includes many distinguished programs and world-class academies such as the ISTA Performing Arts Academy, the Stoke City FC Football Academy, GAIL, the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, and MUN. Additionally, Early Years and Primary students enjoy one afternoon per week of activities during the school day.
Representing around 50 different nationalities, WISS offers a truly international learning environment, while still fostering an appreciation and respect for our host country through well-developed Mandarin language and literature classes and by being actively engaged in the local community.
