An innovative programme for international education leaders in Asia

The Executive Master of Arts in International Educational Leadership and Change (IELC) is a pioneering, flexible learning programme from the Education University of Hong Kong.

Accredited by International Baccalaureate, and supported by the Asia Pacific Centre for Leadership and Change, the IELC is tailored for international leaders who want to take their career to the next level.

Why is it important?
The last decade has seen impressive growth in the international school sector. China now hosts the second largest number of international schools globally, and with the implementation of the two-child policy in China’s major cities, the growth of such campuses is expected to accelerate.

What is the career benefit?
IELC graduates achieve the globally respected IB Certificate in Leadership Practice and the IB Advanced Certificate in Leadership Research. Alumni experience career advancement – whether from being principals of small schools to large ones, from frontline teachers to middle leadership, or from middle to senior leadership.

As one of the Asia-Pacific’s leading centres of Education, we know that the demands of a life in education are tough. Time is precious. We designed the IELC to be flexible, allowing our students to study when it’s right for them. As Karen Abell, a leader at King George V School, Hong Kong (pictured above) remarks: “The flexibility and content itself is so practical.”

The mix of online and face-to-face learning enables students to share, discuss, and explore challenges together, learning from each other’s experience and knowledge. Tracy Salter (pictured below), now an Academic Development Advisor with AdvTech, one of South Africa’s leading Education consultancies, remarked that: “The IELC programme was absolutely fantastic for us to work our way through. We were already a group of leadership professionals. We engaged in continued conversation – online and face-to-face – shared what we were going through, and looked further to figure out the better ways to move forward.”
