IB results day: students celebrate globally

Today more than 18,000 Diploma Programme (DP) and Career-related Programme (CP) students around the world will receive their results from the November 2018 examination session.

“My heartfelt congratulations to the students who have today received their DP and CP results,” said Dr Siva Kumari, IB Director General. “Your IB study has given you great breadth and depth of knowledge, the ability to think critically, and the opportunity to flourish intellectually, as well as emotionally, physically and ethically, not just in your next educational step but in life.

“We wish you every success in whatever you undertake, and we know you will use all the learning tools that your IB education has provided.

“I’d also like to thank all the IB teachers, IB coordinators, IB examiners and IB parents in our global IB community—their continued passion and commitment makes possible our mission to create a better world through education.”

In the year that the IB celebrated its 50th anniversary, the November DP and CP cohort grew by 11%, and more than 180,000 examination papers were processed in 16 languages. Examiners across the world worked collaboratively to establish an international standard to which grades were awarded for each subject.

IB Chief Assessment Officer, Paula Wilcock, says: “I would like to offer my congratulations to all the students receiving their results today. This day is the culmination of two years’ dedication to their studies and is a significant milestone for students all over the globe. These results would not be possible without our network of examiners who work diligently to ensure we deliver a fair grade to every student. On behalf of the IB and our community, I thank you for the part you play in this momentous occasion for our students. I look forward to collaborating with the professionals who assist our assessment practices as we continue to explore and innovate the part that assessment plays in providing high quality education for the 21st century and beyond”.
