Taunton School International announced as finalists in national schools awards

Taunton School International has been announced as a finalist in the national Independent School of the Year Awards 2021.

The school has been recognised for launching a pioneering Foundation Year course and for its new international scholarships established to mark the school’s 25th anniversary.

TSI is one of just five finalists in the prestigious awards’ British International School of the Year category.

Adrian Hallworth, Principal of Taunton School International, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have made it to the final stage of these awards, particularly as we celebrate our 25th anniversary this year.

“International students are a very special and important part of our school community and this award acknowledges the work of our wonderful teachers and students do to create such an inspiring educational environment. We wish all the finalists the best of luck at the finals in October.”

The other finalists in the category are The Alice Smith School in Kuala Lumpur, Dubai College, Halcyon London International School and North London Collegiate in Jeju.

Taunton School International is the only school in the country to offer international students an alternative two-year pathway to top English-speaking universities, alongside the traditional A-levels, IB and BTEC courses. Staff student ratio at the school is 3:1.

The Independent School of the Year Awards recognise schools which provide the most exceptional student experience with judges looking at the breadth and diversity of school life. This year a record number of schools from across the country entered nominations.

Dr Helen Wright, Chair of the judging panel, said: “The UK’s independent schools are vibrant, exciting places which, as the past year has demonstrated, are constantly evolving to respond to the needs of their individual students.

“These highly-regarded awards recognise and celebrate the amazing experiences and opportunities for students in independent schools across the UK and British schools overseas.”

The winners will be announced on Thursday, October 7th.
