The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) is for children from 3-12 years of age, and engages young students as active participants as they start a lifelong journey of learning.

The PYP transdisciplinary framework focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both at school and beyond. Informed by research into how students learn, how educators teach, and the principles and practice of effective assessment, the programme places a powerful emphasis on inquiry-based learning. 

Guided by transdisciplinary themes of global significance, students deepen their learning by developing knowledge, skills and conceptual understandings across six subject areas: language; mathematics; science; social studies; arts; and personal, social and physical education.

The six transdisciplinary themes of global significance are the most significant and distinctive feature of the PYP, encouraging deep learning as students inquire into, across and beyond subject areas.
